Green Backpacker’s Hostel Review – Mitzpe Ramon, Israel
Some people drive through Mitzpe Ramon on their way to Eilat and don’t stop. If you love hiking and the outdoors, that’s probably a mistake. Mitzpe Ramon is a small town in the middle of the Negev Desert. It is on the edge of the Maktash Ramon, a massive crater, making it one of the best places for hiking in Israel. And the best place to stay is the Green Backpacker’s Hostel.
The Green Backpacker’s Hostel is one of the few accommodation options for visitors to Mitzpe Ramon. We were interested in trying out one of the hikes in the Negev, so we decided to stay here. Immediately the owners, Lee and Yoash, made us feel right at home, offering us helpful information about all of the different hikes, as well as marking off the best places for photography on a map.
Double Room: $75-83
Triple Room: $117-122
The hostel itself is pretty small and intimate. There were about 15 people staying there with us and it was completely full. The owners had to actually turn away several backpackers hoping for an open bed. If exploring the Maktesh is on your itinerary, we’d recommend booking ahead of time. The hostel has a shared bathroom, which did create a long line of people at night and in the morning, waiting to use the shower. But, the hostel does have plans to expand, so cross your fingers for more showers in the future.
We only stayed there one night and should have stayed longer. There are so many hikes and beautiful views, two or three nights is definitely a better idea. When you’re finished hiking, don’t forget to walk outside at night. Mitzpe Ramon is also known for its star gazing. We hope you found some useful information in our Green Backpacker’s Hostel Review!
